Privacy Policy
Updated: November 4, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information Embraceware Software, Inc. (“Embraceware”, “we”, “us”) collects, how we use it, and the choices you have. It applies to the games, apps and websites we provide (the “Services”), including:
  • Ultimate Game Guide for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android, including The Daily Cart, Collection, shared shelf pages and the Ultimate Game Guide game database on embraceware.com;
  • our other apps, including Awaken, HoloSnaps, SoloFocus and Song Skipper;
  • our games, including Alpha Pairs and Beyond Sentinel, when released; and
  • the embraceware.com website, its support contact form and its newsletter sign-up.
Embraceware Software, Inc., a Canadian corporation located in Newfoundland and Labrador, Canada, is responsible for the information described in this policy. Use of the Services is also subject to our Terms of Service.

The Short Version
  • We do not show advertising in any of our apps or games, and we do not sell or rent your personal information.
  • Our apps do not contain third-party advertising, analytics or tracking SDKs, our website does not use third-party analytics or advertising cookies, and we do not track you across other companies’ apps or websites.
  • An account is optional. Ultimate Game Guide works without one; an account is only needed to sync your collection between devices, keep a collector profile, or share a shelf.
  • Awaken, HoloSnaps, SoloFocus and Song Skipper do not require an account and do not send your personal information to us.
  • You can delete your Ultimate Game Guide account, and the data stored with it, at any time.

Information You Give Us
Ultimate Game Guide account. If you create an account, we collect your email address and a password, which we store only in hashed form. We store the data you choose to sync with it: your collection (including the condition of each copy and your wanted list), the games you have played, your game ratings, and which guides you have unlocked. We also record your device platform, operating system version and app version to support and troubleshoot the app.

Collector profile. If you set up a profile, we store the name, bio and photo you provide and whether you have made the profile public.

Shared shelves. If you share your shelf, we create a page at a random link that shows the games on your shelf and, if your profile is public, your profile name, bio and photo. Anyone with the link can view that page, and it may appear in link previews on social networks and messaging apps. Your email address and account ID are never shown on the page or included in the link.

Support requests. When you use our support contact form or email us, we collect your name, email address, the product and platform you select, and the contents of your message, and we keep the conversation so we can help you.

Launch and news sign-ups. If you ask to be notified about a product, we collect your email address, the product you chose and your language, and use them only to send you that notification.

Information Collected Automatically
The Daily Cart. To keep your streak and show results, we store your answers, scores, votes and streak with a random reader ID (and with your account, if you are signed in), along with basic usage events such as which sections of an issue were opened. On the website, The Daily Cart sets a first-party cookie (ugg_dv) containing that random reader ID, which lasts up to 400 days.

Notifications. If you turn on The Daily Cart morning reminder, we store your device’s push notification token, time zone, preferred reminder time, language and selected system so we can send the reminder. Notifications are delivered through Apple Push Notification service or Firebase Cloud Messaging. You can turn reminders off at any time in the app or in your device settings.

Website statistics. embraceware.com counts visits with our own first-party statistics, which do not use cookies. For each page view we record the page, the referring site, campaign tags in the link, screen width, browser language, how long the page was on screen, and links clicked that leave the site (such as App Store and Google Play buttons). Your IP address and browser’s user agent are used only to create a visitor code that changes every day and to look up your country, and are then discarded. If traffic appears automated or abusive, we keep the IP address and user agent for up to 7 days to protect the site.

Preferences and server logs. The website sets a language cookie to remember your preferred language. Like most websites, our hosting provider keeps standard server logs, which include IP addresses, for security and troubleshooting.

Information That Stays on Your Device
Scan a Game. When you scan a cartridge or box with Ultimate Game Guide, the camera image or chosen photo is analyzed on your device (using Apple’s Vision framework or Google’s on-device ML Kit) to match it to a game. The image is not uploaded to us or stored by the app.

Our other apps. HoloSnaps processes your photos on your device. Awaken and Song Skipper use Apple Music and your music library on your device to play and control music. SoloFocus manages the apps and websites you choose to block on your Mac. None of these apps send your photos, music library, listening activity, focus settings or other personal information to us. If you do not create an account, Ultimate Game Guide keeps your collection, ratings and settings on your device.

Camera, photo library, music library and notification access are only requested when you use a feature that needs them, and you can change these permissions at any time in your device settings.

Purchases
Purchases are processed by Apple or Google. We do not receive your payment card details or billing address. The app tells us which guides you have unlocked so they can be restored and synced with your account, and the stores give us sales reports that do not identify you personally.

Affiliate Links
Ultimate Game Guide provides links to products listed on eBay, some of which are affiliate links. When you click an affiliate link and make a purchase, we may earn a commission. eBay and its affiliate network may use cookies or similar technologies to attribute the purchase, under eBay’s own privacy policy. We do not receive any information about who you are or what you bought.

How We Use Information
We use the information described above to provide and operate the Services, including syncing your data, showing your profile and shelf pages and sending reminders you asked for; to respond to support requests; to send notifications you signed up for; to understand how the Services are used so we can improve them; to protect the Services against fraud, abuse and security threats; and to comply with legal obligations.

If you are in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, we rely on these legal bases: performance of our contract with you (to provide the features you use), your consent (for notifications and sign-ups, which you can withdraw at any time), our legitimate interests (to keep the Services secure, provide support and understand aggregate usage), and compliance with legal obligations.

How We Share Information
We do not sell or rent your personal information, and we do not share it for targeted advertising. We share information only:
  • with service providers that process it on our behalf to run the Services: Microsoft Azure (hosting, databases and profile photo storage), Twilio SendGrid (sending and receiving support and notification emails), and Apple and Google (push notifications and purchases);
  • publicly, when you choose to share a shelf or make your profile public, as described above;
  • when required by law, or to protect the rights, property or safety of Embraceware, our users or others; and
  • as part of a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to your information.

How Long We Keep Information
We keep your account data, profile and shared shelf until you delete them or your account. Daily Cart data that is not linked to an account is kept while the reader ID is in use. Support conversations are kept as long as needed to help you and for our records. Launch sign-up emails are kept until the notification is sent or you ask us to remove them. Website statistics are kept in aggregate form, and flagged IP addresses are deleted after 7 days.

Deleting Your Account and Data
You can delete your Ultimate Game Guide account at any time from the account screen in the app. Deleting your account permanently removes your account, synced collection, play history, ratings, Daily Cart progress, notification registrations, collector profile and photo, and disables any shelf links you have shared. You can also ask us to delete your account or any other information about you, without using the app, by emailing help@embraceware.com from the address associated with your account or by using our contact form. We will confirm when your request has been completed.

Your Rights
Depending on where you live, including in Canada, the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, California and other US states, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, to object to or restrict certain processing, and to withdraw consent. To make a request, contact us at help@embraceware.com. We will not discriminate against you for exercising your rights. If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (priv.gc.ca) or, if you live in the EEA or UK, your local data protection authority.

Children
Our Services are designed for a general audience and are not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or the minimum age required in their country). If you believe a child has given us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

Security
We protect your information with measures such as encrypted HTTPS connections, hashed passwords and signed requests between our apps and servers. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, but we work to protect your information and to limit access to it.

International Transfers
Embraceware is based in Canada, and our service providers may store and process information in Canada, the United States and other countries, where it may be accessible to courts and authorities under local law. Canada is recognized by the European Commission as providing adequate protection for personal information; where other transfers from the EEA or UK require it, we rely on appropriate safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.

Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, for example when we add features or when the law changes. We will post the updated policy on this page and change the date at the top. If a change materially affects how we use your personal information, we will give notice in the app or on this website before it takes effect.
