Maniac Mansion

This point-and-click adventure game is among the best in the genre. Dr. Fred Edison has kidnapped cheerleader Sandy, so her boyfriend Dave and six friends go to Fred’s mansion to rescue her. The story catalyst may be hackneyed but the rest isn’t, featuring absurd humor and scenarios. Finding clues and objects forms the gameplay, which the NES handles using a mouse-like cursor on the D-pad. You don’t control characters directly, but instead use menus.
