I love the iOS 4 support, but when an alarm goes off outside of Awaken, it uses a default alarm tone, and only switches to playing the selected music once Awaken is opened. Is this a limitation of iOS or a bug?

  2. Jerry Brace says:

    Hi David,
Local notifications at the moment can only play sounds that are included within an application. I have filed a feature enhancement request with Apple to expand this in the future to allow music playback. To answer your question clearly – we’re doing the best solution possible with what iOS 4 provides.

Thank you for the response (I also tweeted the question because I wasn’t sure how regularly you checked the comments). I figured that it would be a dumb Apple thing. With any luck, this’ll happen sooner rather than later. I love the application, but I am not going to wake up to the local notification alarm, and I hate having to switch to Awaken before I fall asleep and risking missing work or school if I forget. I wonder…if I use Backgrounder (Jailbreak application) to multitask Awaken, instead of iOS 4′s multitasking, do you think it would work? I’m not sure how much knowledge you have on jailbreaks…

Is there something special I’m supposed to set up for the push notifications? There is no Awaken listed in my push notification settings and I didn’t see anything within the app settings.

  5. Jerry Brace says:

Hi Michael – Awaken 1.7 uses “Local” notifications – they are automatically set whenever you create an alarm. They are displayed only if Awaken is not already running at alarm time.
