UPDATE: If you are using Unsanity’s Application Enhancer (APE) please add Awaken to the APE exclude list in the APE System Preferences panel. The only crash reports I have are from users using APE.
Wow - a week goes by so fast. Sunday nights are turning into Awaken Beta nights. So what’s new since last Sunday’s Beta (4)? We have bug fixes to address the bug reports that have come in, and we also added in 2 features that were requested last week.
Several have mentioned that the highest time option available for the sleep timer was too short (1 hour). We updated it to have an hour and minute option.
Also related to the sleep timer was a request that asked for a “basic sleep timer” (just put the Mac to sleep in X hours/minutes - no iTunes music playback). I thought this was a great idea which can have all kinds of uses. For example - maybe you want to fall asleep to a DVD. Simply set the sleep timer for the length of the movie and you’re set.
Here is a video of both of these new features in action:
Here is a listing of what’s new in Beta 5:
- Sleep Timer now has hour/minute time options.
- Sleep Timer can now be used to sleep the Mac without iTunes playback.
- Added 1 minute as an option to the “Stop Alarm After # Minutes” preference.
- Bug fixed where Awaken would crash when used with Remote Buddy.
- Bug fixed with Egg Timer where seconds would skip.
- Bug fixed with Egg Timer where countdown could continue after 0.
- Bug fixed where song rating stars would be stretched on wide-screens.
- Crash reporter window updated with more information.

P.S Remote buddy Users: Change the cancel alarm action to the return key input for a much more functional and appropriate usage. This way the iTunes tack will not continue to play once the Alarm has be canceled. I am working on mapping the left and right click (held) to a sleep time setting of choice, will post once I figure it out…

Hi Timothy,
We certainly do have an RSS feed for the blog. The RSS button shows up in Safari and the orange feed icon is showing in FireFox. If that’s not working for you for some reason - here is the feed url: feed://embraceware.com/blog/feed/
Let me know if you have any problems.
Cheers,

Hi Jerry,
2 little glitches.. If I leave the alarm on for say a couple hours after it started using iTunes I get an error msg; I like to leave it running and be able to use the stars to grade songs as they play. Also I changed the iTunes to be hidden at alarm time setting and then got an error the following morning and the alarm got to use the beeps instead of iTunes.. No logs to show as they weren’t crashes… Not really big items but I tought I’d let you know.. Cheers
