New Website Design Coming Soon
February 6th, 2007 at 6:03 PM • Posted in Website

I’ve been working on a new design for the site which will be going live at the same time as the final release of Awaken 3.1. Here is a sneak peek:

New Site Design

An update on Awaken 3.1 Beta 4 - it’s getting close! Beta 4 will have the iTunes rating feature along with some bug fixes.

Looks very Apple-seque, nice job! The only problem I see is it has lost it’s alarm theme. It would take a few seconds to actually figure out it’s an alarm clock. I’d try to make it more obvious.

  2. Dylan Says:

On second thought maybe it’s just because I’m really tired :).

  3. Dan Peterson Says:

You’ve got that beautiful icon alarm clock and it’s not in the main header image? Seems like that’s one thing that should be right up there visually showing right off the bat what Awaken is. I’d also fade out the images on the sides as they get further away, it’s just too much “in your face” the way that it is IMHO.

  4. Dan Peterson Says:

By the way, what ever happened to the nice fade in and fade out shadow when Awaken was selected or deselected? I loved that and now it’s gone! :(

  5. Jerry Brace Says:

@Dylan and Dan - thanks for the feedback on the first draft. I’ll definitely be updating the header by adding the Awaken icon next to the UI and tone down the other icons, etc.

@Dan - about the shadow fading - there was a bug with that at the latest minute of the 3.0 release and it was pulled. I’ll see if I can get that issue corrected for 3.1.

I hope I speak for everyone when I say that nobody cares about ratings.
Seriously, I hate ratings so much. It feels like they are only put in apps so that they seem more complex and feature-filled. Who seriously uses ratings? And for an Alarm Clock? :/

  7. Jerry Brace Says:

@alej777 - I agree with you that an iTunes rating feature is not important. It will not be a front and center feature - it will only be visible when you mouse over the song title. It’s just a hidden subtle feature for those who have a use for it. For example, some people use smart playlists for alarms which use song ratings as a parameter, etc.

    Hey there,

One feature I’d like to see included in Awaken is that I’d like to able to have a normal alarm in between the songs, to make sure I really wake up. I tried to manually include alarms in my playlist (i.e. by adding mp3-alarms to them) but that didn’t work as i wanted it to. It be cool if you could set how often the alarm should ring (in between every song, at the beginning of the playlist, etc) and for how long it should keep on ringing.

Hope you can give this a thought! Keep up the nice work!

Cool website design. What program did you use to design it?
