It has only been 48 hours since beta 4 and now we have beta 5 ready. The purpose of the beta process is to eliminate all bugs before we officially say 3.0 is a final release. The response has been great and we thank everyone for reporting all bugs found - whether it be big or small. Special thanks today go to Thomas Hertz - who was one of the first to report the issue with the “wake from sleep” feature when FileVault is enabled. He was able to take a few moments out of his day to help test via iChat to be sure the bug fix for this resolves the issue.
So - here’s what we’ve completed in beta 5:
- As mentioned, beta 5 fixes a bug where the “wake from sleep” feature would crash if FileVault was enabled for your account.
- Memory management has been vastly improved and all bugs related to performance have been corrected
- The Awaken menubar app now obeys the standard/military time preference when displaying the next alarm date/time.
- Dylan posted a comment regarding the quality of the Apple Remote icon in the Awaken preferences. We have that icon redesigned in beta 5.
At this point - all reported bugs to date have been addressed. It would be great if everyone could upgrade to beta 5 and report any bugs that you find. In the meantime I will be refreshing the Awaken page on the website and updating the help information to get ready for the 3.0 final release.

This program is awesome, gonna buy it as soon as i figure out how to use paypal for buying stuff in $$$’s have to in 2 weeks becouse then the beta ends…
But, just one thing.
I have my imac connected to my 5.1 home cinema set, and 1 speaker is close to my bed.
now i like to listen to music while going to sleep at a really low volume, but i dont want to wake up with music.
I like to wake up with the Buzzer (loud) instead of music, so the way i do it is just set the volume very low in iTunes itself and in Awaken set the volume high so i wake up from it, but to hear the Buzzer sound i have to make a empty playlist in itunes so Awaken cant play music and plays the buzzer sound.
But cant you guys just make an option that you can choose if you want to listen to music, or that you want to hear the buzzer in the morning? would be great!
Jamie.

Jamie,
A quick fix for that is to right click the awaken.app, select show package contents>contents>resources the mp3 files of the alarms are in there. double clicking one will add it to your itunes library, make a new playlist called alarm, drag the alarm sound you want into that playlist, set to repeat forever, and then make the playlist changes in awaken

Jamie : Jerry said it’ll be possible in a future version, and in the meantime you can use Steve’s idea =)

When I click “Enable alarms when awaken is not running,” the menubar icon appears then disappears about a second later.
I am using a 2.0GHz MacBook with 2GB RAM.

Hi all,
Just wanted to know whether you can use the egg timer in full screen mode. If not, then I would really suggest that be implemented.

Btw, why is it ‘Mon at 09:15′ and not just ‘Monday at 09:15′ that fits easily and its nicer i think

Hi Phillip,
The egg timer follows the same preferences as alarms - it is just another type of alarm. So if you have “fullscreen alarms” enabled - the egg timer will be too. Let me know if you have any other questions - thanks!
