The Awaken 2.7 Beta is getting very close to release time. In this video post you will see the updated icons for the egg timer, sleep timer and the menubar - but the main focus is on the warning notifications.
Awaken will now notify you if there is an issue with your alarm setup. You will see a pulsing caution icon if you do not have “wake from sleep” enabled or if you have a screen saver password set. Clicking on the caution icon will let you know what the problem is and provide an option to correct it. If you like, you can also disable these warnings via the preferences. I think they will be very helpful in giving you peace of mind that everything is set correctly.
Another nice visual confirmation of “all systems go” is relayed by the menubar option. When you “enable alarms when Awaken is not running”, an alarm clock will appear in the menubar. When you click on the icon - it will display the date and time that the next alarm is scheduled. For example - “Tomorrow at 7am”.
PS> We are going to be switching to (mt)Media Temple’s grid-server for the hosting of this website in the next day or so. If you see the site down for an hour or so - that is the reason. We’ll be back faster than ever

Really nice to see the standard OS X Authenticate Sheet instead of the app taking the user’s password directly. So much better for those (me) who are unfortunately overly anal about secure user flow semantics. Probably doesn’t really matter, but it just _feels_ so wrong.
Also really nice to see the ability to hide the icon from the menubar, and the fact that when visible, the menubar icon now provides some sort of information.
I like the hints of Safari in the icon, it will really fit right in on my dock. Actually, all of the new stuff looks really good. You just got yourself a new paying customer.
Keep up the good work.

This release is starting to look more like Awaken 3.0. Your adding everything I could possibly wish for…. actually how about a white version of the fullscreen alarm? I have a really dark room and I’m up before sunrise, it would be cool to have a sort of dawn simulator. I think it would work well with my new C2D iMac. I suppose I could get by just inverting the screen before I go to sleep but it would be nice if It was built into the app.
You could even go so far as losing the Front Row imitation and replacing it with an aninmation of a sunrise, with the same controls and text of course. Sure it’s a little gimmicky but, if done right, I think it could look pretty cool. I think it would boost sales as well, just take a look over at My Dream App….

Hi,
Awaken looks more and more amazing !
As you just added an option to toggle on/off the alarms list, can you also add an option to make the Clock/Date smaller ? (toggle big/small size in prefs)
imho, date and sun/mon icon are useless.
then you’ll have just a medium size clock centered.
Awesome work Jerry anyway !!
I have no idea what you can add in 3.0 now

I can’t wait for this new update, it was after looking at the blog yesterday that I went out and spent the money to buy a copy - are we going to be waiting long before we get this?
I do have one little request, as nice as the full screen mode is, it’s not quite as pretty as the normal window, a really large version of the time bar would be lovely at the top of the screen, the nice shiney feel threw-out would be lovely, you could keep the old version as an option but I would really love for full-screen to have more eye-candy in it!
Thanks!, George

Maybe an option to hide the entire clock as well since it’s already in the menubar.

Thanks Dylan and George - those are great options to have available. If they do not make it into 2.7 - they will be definitely be in the next. I won’t be tackling anything else for 2.7 that would cause a delay in getting the beta out there. The beta will be available on or before this coming Monday.
